One dog, the Chow mix has been adopted. - What pets do you have?
- Sephi was a black Chow/Shepherd/Lab/Border Collie mix. She was born in 2001 and I have had her since she was a pup. Sephi was very independent and didn't care too much for petting. She loved to play and she was a very good guard dog. Sephi died at the beginning of November, 2011. We suspect it was an auto-immune disease.
Maya is a yellow Labrador Retriever. She was born in 2007 and I have also had her since she was a pup. Maya is still very puppy-like. She is very rambunctious, loves to play, greets people with great enthusiasm, and is a big lover.
Pierson is an Australian Shepherd and/or Border Collie mix. He had been living in Pierson Park for nearly a month when I heard about it on Facebook. After three days, I caught him and took him home. This was on January 10, 2012. He is about a year old and is a great dog, very intelligent, and fun.

- I am an entrepreneur who work with dogs. I am also a certified dog trainer and I volunteer for the local animal shelter. I would love to foster dogs but Sephi can be dog-aggressive.

Need Advice on Catching Strays Currently Living at a Park

Most of my Facebook and Twitter friends know that I am looking to adopt another dog. My husband is wanting a Border Collie. When I mentioned this on Facebook, one of my friends got me in touch with a woman who knew of two dogs (one a border collie mix) who have been living at Pierson Park in Kansas City, Kansas for about three weeks now. There are people stopping by to feed them, but none of these people have the means to catch and care for these dogs. And no one wants to call animal control…

No, you don't have to be a videographer like Louis. All you have to do is help an animal in need. Don't turn away and hope someone else does something about it. Do it yourself.
If it is a dog in traffic, be aware of your own safety and be careful not to drive the dog into the street. Also use caution in approaching the dog so that you don't get bitten.
If it is an injured animal, be careful about picking him up. An injured animal may instinctively bite. I keep a leash with me…

For everyone's info, I use to live in Grandview, Missouri, which was near Truman Corners. My father grew up in Kansas City along with his two brothers and two sisters. He was very good friends with Harry Truman and visited him on occasion while he was President. I had the opportunity to meet Mr. Truman at the Truman library but it was not to be. Elenore Roosevelt died and he had to attend her funeral. My best friend in Grandview was Tommy Fulkerson. I often wonder what happened to him along with Doug Johnson who I managed to get in trouble
in elementary class, by drawing comic strips of Doug being plagued by growing masses of flesh, such as moles and warts. He would crack up in class and the teacher would be very annoyed and reprimand him. I had no mercy, all I had to do was act like I was picking a mole and he would loose it. Poor guy, I wish I would have saved some of those crazy comics.

Dawn, I am very sorry to hear about Sephi. She was a beautiful dog. She had a good life with a wonderful pet owner who loved her very much. I wish all dogs could be so fortunate. I know it is hard and you miss her very much.
