Catching a stray or dumped dog

If you ever see a dumped or stray dog, you can end up getting it killed or injured if you don't use some common animal sense. I know of several people with purely good intentions that have ended up doing just that very thing. If you see a dumped or stray dog, never try to chase it or yell at it, this can scare it into oncoming traffic, or just deep into brush or woods, putting it in greater danger. Any animal dumped or lost is going to be confused, scared, and a bit disoriented, so chasing it…See More

Oliver the Yorkie mix needs a home

This little guy I am calling Oliver. He is an adult Yorkie mix that was wondering the streets of Denison for a couple of weeks and the owner had been sought, but never found. It is a wonder the little guy survived on the streets that long without something happening,,,lots of big things out there that could have gotten him. A lady caught him and brought him to me where he is now safe. He is friendly with people, kids as young as two, and big or little dogs. He just kinda bounces around the…See More

Tulip the Pit Mix needs a home

This is Tulip, a young female Pit mix that was seen being dumped out of a silver Toyota about a week ago. At the time she was taken in, she had lacerations all over her face and body, much like is common with bait dogs used to train fighting dogs. She has been housetrained, spayed, and up to date on shots. She was found to be heartworm positive, but 120.00 is all it would cost to complete treatment. She is great with dogs and all people, just a little timid. If you would like to give Tulip a…See More

GROOMING TIP #16 FOR THE DO-IT-YOURSELF TYPE: HUMAN SHAMPOO VS PET SHAMPOO

Posted on February 1, 2013 at 5:00pm 0 Comments

Okay, so your dog is maybe smelling a little bit less fragrant than roses, has been rolling in mud or on something that has been dead for awhile, and after you pet her awhile, your hands are smelling ... umm, kinda "doggy"? It is DEFINITELY time to give him a bath, and quick!

You go to the area of the house…

The Perfect Gift?

Well, Christmas is coming and your child has been begging, and pleading for a puppy this Christmas.  You find them doing their homework, cleaning their room, and in general being good for goodness sake, just to make sure Santa will indeed bring a new best friend this year.  Well, if you are considering giving old Saint Nick the approval, here are just a few things to think about to help make sure it is "the BEST Christmas ever for you, your child, and the new little addition to the…

GROOMING TIP #14 FOR THE DO-IT-YOURSELF TYPE: POODLE BASICS

One of the most intelligent, trainable, and loving companions you can find in the canine world is the poodle.  Whether it is the large, graceful Standard Poodle, a tiny little Toy Poodle, or the Miniature Poodle, the task of keeping his or her curly little coat looking nice can be a big and daunting task.  The time…

Thank you, the black one is female, brown one is male, both are fixed, not aggressive, I pray they were not dumped but happens too often out here. We are in Sadler on Brooks Lane, they obviously were inside dogs too, they try to come inside! They have been good about not bothering my chickens. I wish I could just keep them, but my boxer is not accepting of other dogs, it would take lots of work, and the hubby says NO any help would b great. I posted to Facebook as well but I am somewhat new to Texoma so not too many contacts in this area.

My grand daughter brought him to me 2 nights ago after her car went over him on a major highway.  He was so skinny, frail, and scared.   It took me 24 hours to figure out that he wouldn't eat because he is a puppy (puppy breath :)) so I fed him warm milk and softened Iams dog food.  I can't believe that people can be so cruel!!!  He was scheduled to go to Shear Pawfections Safe Haven this morning but cancelled because he is now my puppy, Gizmo.  You can't imagine what love can do.  In 24  hours, can't see his ribs, no crying, at my feet, obeys every command.  We prayed last night and God has provided :)!  Please everyone out there, share the love!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks. We are doing well. The boys are still going, but only once every two weeks. Having two kids slowed things down a bit for us. :)

We have started a Texoma pets lost and found group and would love to work with you to help unite pets back to their owners.  Can I share your link and you share ours?

Hi, Robert!  Minimal luck with KittyTom.  Best we have is sending him to South Carolina.  Simply, no one wants an adult cat!  I've got one more lead to check, but looks like KT is going on a road trip.  I have a family member in SC who will take him as a last resort!

Just FYI, Jings, the "teacup panther" is also up for adoption.  He and KT belonged to the same lady.  I'd like to keep Jings, but he's an outdoor cat, and we're moving to a highly populated area.  So, I'm worried about how he'll adjust.  We'll see!

I just got the little guy a week ago this friday.  he is mixed with Shepard but has all the Rhodesian traits.  never had one but he is beautiful.  I have so many family members who  now want one.   He is so adorable.  Lots of training right now.
