Okay, so your dog is maybe smelling a little bit less fragrant than roses, has been rolling in mud or on something that has been dead for awhile, and after you pet her awhile, your hands are smelling ... umm, kinda "doggy"? It is DEFINITELY time to give him a bath, and quick!
You go to the area of the house…

The Perfect Gift?

GROOMING TIP #14 FOR THE DO-IT-YOURSELF TYPE: POODLE BASICS
One of the most intelligent, trainable, and loving companions you can find in the canine world is the poodle. Whether it is the large, graceful Standard Poodle, a tiny little Toy Poodle, or the Miniature Poodle, the task of keeping his or her curly little coat looking nice can be a big and daunting task. The time…

Increasing Rabies Awareness
Very few diseases instill fear in a pet owner as quickly as rabies. As soon as I hear the word I immediately think of the movie "Old Yeller" and how much it traumatized me as a little kid. The sight of his dog frothing at the mouth and behaving in such an aggressive manner was downright scary. I couldn't imagine…

Remembering a Lost Pet
A Facebook friend of mine recently lost their cat of 14 years. I’ve never had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Sugar but the heartfelt emotional post from my friend about her lost companion touched me. I was genuinely upset for this lovable cat and its poor parent. It got me thinking about how many people take their pets for granted. Our dogs and cats provide us with unwavering love. Next time, they wait for you to come home from work or school every day and are filled with the utmost joy as you…

GROOMING TIP #13 FOR THE DO-IT-YOURSELF TYPE: NOT DOING IT YOURSELF! (OR CHOOSING A GROOMER)
So, you went out and bought the clippers, the blades, the brushes and scissors to groom your furry little family member and you gave it a try, only to find out that sometime in the middle of the night, while it lay snuggled next to you in bed, it was possessed by a demon who thrashes, gnashes, and tries to leave…

National Holistic Pet Day is Right around the Corner
I was doing some of the usual pet community surfing when I came across some information that August 30th is National Holistic Pet Day. How did this new holiday slip by me? It sounds like a pretty cool idea. I’m always up for natural ways to improve my pet’s health. This is even more exciting than Talk…

Rescue and Reunite
Hello,
My name is Tess. I live in Noblesville, IN and I am new to Pet Commando.
Like Louis Pollaro, and members of this site, as well as show viewers, I rescue and reunite animals. Over the years, many animals, dogs mostly, have crossed my path while I have been driving down a road, or have stumbled upon my front yard. I always stopped whatever I was doing, including driving to meet a friend for coffee, and went to the dog in effort to hopefully find it had a tag and I could…

Adjusting to City Life
I’m not exactly a city person; I admit it. I grew up in more of a rural area with occasional trips to suburbia if we ever felt like going shopping. That all changed when I went away to college. It wasn’t a major metropolitan area but it was a lot busier than anything I was used to experiencing.
The one thing I…

Finding Pet Food for Dogs with Sensitive Stomachs
My dog suffers from a squeaky stomach. You know those crazy noises that come from the dog’s belly after it eats? I didn’t give it much thought at first but after a recent trip to the vet, I discovered it was my dog’s food. After some research and tests with different types of dog food, we finally found a brand that…

DOG BREED TO OWNER MATCHES: POMERANIAN
Originating in Germany in the province of Pomerania, the Pomeranian is a descendant of a larger German Spitz dog used for herding sheep. In the 19th century they were bred down to the size they are today, and made popular by Queen Victoria who highly valued these little four legged powder puffs.
The Pomeranian is…

GROOMING TIP #12 FOR THE DO-IT-YOURSELF TYPE: SKUNKED!!!!
I
am not quite sure why, but most dogs think that a little black and white furry animal waddling around the yard or park, would make a delightful play-mate and friend. I am talking about skunks, and if you are a dog owner in the country, and sometimes even the city, the odds are pretty high that your dog will be…

North Texas Cat Rescue has Ninja Kittens
Well I have officially adopted two Ninja kittens from North Texas Cat Rescue out of Collin County. My boys paid for them. They are not my Gwennie but they have settled in and share my life with me. After the storms the other night, my alarm did not go off but they decided to kiss me awake at 6am sharp! They knew exactly when I am supposed to get up! Very smart kitties. These were recued from these places the animal control takes them to for mass extermination. These kittens had been spayed,…

Looking for a ferret
I am looking for a ferret that may need a new home. I have a ferret I adopted from a friend and I bought a three story cage and my lonely ferret needs a friend so if anyone knows of a ferret needing a home let me know. I do not like buying animals from petstores as I know there are many animals needing homes. Unfortunately the closest ferret rescue is pretty far away so I thought I would reach out to my community. Thank you!
