How to be a Pet Commando

No, you don't have to be a videographer like Louis. All you have to do is help an animal in need. Don't turn away and hope someone else does something about it. Do it yourself.

If it is a dog in traffic, be aware of your own safety and be careful not to drive the dog into the street. Also use caution in approaching the dog so that you don't get bitten.

If it is an injured animal, be careful about picking him up. An injured animal may instinctively bite. I keep a leash with me…

Sephi & Maya Rescues?

No, Sephi and Maya are not rescues. Sephi was given to me and Maya was adopted. But the reason Maya was adopted started with a rescue.

It had just been me and Sephi for about six years. I had been wanting another dog for some time but was concerned about having two dogs in a small one bedroom apartment. But when the opportunity to work from home came along, I decided another dog would be okay since I would be home all day and would have time to take both out for lots of…

A Private Room…For Dogs..To Do What?!?

As if four kids wasn’t enough we also have four dogs, all boys. Feeding them, keeping their shots up to date, and buying them toys costs us a pretty penny, same as our kids do, but they’re worth more than the trouble they get into so we keep ‘em around. Hmm, same as our kids do. *Insert pic of light bulb turning on above Maria’s head here.*

My secret favorite dog is Hogan, a sweet lil’ Dachshund Chihuahua mix, whose daddy, I’m convinced, is not actually the chihuahua his…

Dog Breed to Owner Matches: Rhodesian Ridgeback

The purpose of this blog is strictly to help match the owner to the dog. If the owner chooses the right kind of dog for their life-style and family situation, it will lead to a happier life for the dog and the family, which will lead to fewer abandoned or abused animals.

I am currently choosing the Rhodesian Ridgeback, because four puppies were dumped, and are…

Grooming Tip #2 for the Do-It-Yourself type: Toe Nails

Toe-nails. The length of a dog's nails is easy to over-look and often neglected. But if they get too long, the dog can end up, not only walking with discomfort, but with hip and joint problems because of the altered way in which they walk. Neglecting a dog's nails can even result in the nail growing so long that it curls under the foot and into the pad of the toes.

People, even if they are aware of this, often put off doing anything about it, either because of not knowing what to do,…

Petcommando currently has 82 people with a lot of love and compassion

Petcommando currently has 82 people with a lot of love and compassion for animals, I would love to see it double by the week-end, that would increase the odds that a neglected or abandoned pet can be saved by a drastic amount. We can do it, if we all just can get one friend each to become a member. I am sure that we all have at least one friend that we know feels the same way we do towards animals,,,please tell them to join, the more that know means more possible homes, fosters, recognition of… Continue

Dog Breed to Owner Matches: Herding Group

The purpose of this blog is to help dogs and owners match each other properly. I would hate to see a rescued dog end up dumped, abused, or neglected because of someone not knowing what they were getting when they bring a dog into their family.

Anything in the Herding Group of dogs, tends to be…

Grooming Tip #1 for the Do-It-Yourself Type: Removing Mattes

I realize a lot of you know this already, but for those that don't: If your dog has a lot of mattes or tangles in its hair, it is very important to either brush them out, cut them out with scissors, or shave them out before giving your dog a bath.

When a tangled, or matted dog gets wet, the hair only bunches up and draws closer to the skin. When this happens, it becomes more painful to the dog to brush it out, often causing what is called…

Help grow this site, and help save more pets.

The Pet Commando already has 64 members, and 10 different states on his site, that is pretty amazing in the short amount of time in it's existence! Tell your friends that are animal lovers also, the more people that know about it, the better the chances that someone will know of a situation where there are neglected or abandoned pets that need Louis, or others to help give them better lives, and in a lot of cases, SAVE their lives. Most of you obviously have huge hearts towards your pets,…
