10 Signs Your Pet Needs the Vet
Most pet guardians recognize the obvious signs of a pet in distress but what about the…
See MoreHello,
My name is Tess. I live in Noblesville, IN and I am new to Pet Commando.
Like Louis Pollaro, and members of this site, as well as show viewers, I rescue and reunite animals. Over the years, many animals, dogs mostly, have crossed my path while I have been driving down a road, or have stumbled upon my front yard. I always stopped whatever I was doing, including driving to meet a friend for coffee, and went to the dog in effort to hopefully find it had a tag and I could reunite him/her with their family. Most times, the dog did not have a tag! I just walk from house to house to find the dog's family. I thank God that he always led me to the dog's home!
I will always stop to help an animal. Among my rescues have been chipmunks and birds; giving them a quiet and safe sanctuary in my bathtub until they were well enough to return to the wild.
My heart breaks deeply whenever I hear a news story of animal abuse, see the tv ads for HSUS! Instead of wishing for /praying for 'World Peace', I pray for a day, and that it come soon, when animals will no longer be abused, when they will all know love, good health, human kindness and forever homes!
A fellow friend and guardian to animals,
Tess

Comment by Louis Pollaro on August 20, 2012 at 9:50pm Yous couldn't have said it better. When I saw the cat lying in the doorway of a downtown office building last summer - in the middle of the draught, and 110 degree heat, she was near death - thank God, I stopped! Cars were passing by her all day long - she was dying in plain sight. That cat was the star of episode one of Pet Commando - if you saw it. She inspired the Pet Commando series and this website which has grown into a great community. We named that cat Cleo. She lived a happy last year of her life in a good home.
Comment by Tess Decker on August 19, 2012 at 9:16pm Thank you for the warm welcome to the Commando family! Yes, I do indeed tell everyone I encounter; friends, co-workers, acquaintances, and even strangers about the animals in need and how each of us can do something to help! That's right, no one should turn their heads or hearts away when they know an animal is in need. We have many caring and helpful people in my town and surrounding cities who help animals. Sadly, there are still abandoned, surrendered, and abused animals. One is TOO many! I am not the kind of person who sees a dog roaming along roadside or field and says, 'oh, that dog is probably just exploring and will get home safely.' I fill up with fear that they are lost, will get hit by a car or encounter a coyote (we have coyotes IN our neighborhood - and I am always making new neighbors with pets aware so they can keep their pet safe). I don't consider myself anyone special, I just care about animals and helping them is just what a person should want to do. My heart's desire would be to offer a forever home with medical care and LOTS of LOVE to every unwanted animal! There's just a very special bond I share with animals; a bond that even some friends do not understand. But that doesn't matter because these loving animals understand it! Thanks again Robert for welcoming me into the Pet Commando family! I wish good health and many many years of happiness to all members and their furry companions!!
Comment by Robert Lucian on August 19, 2012 at 8:15pm Tess, you deffinately belong here then! Pretty much everyone on this site has their heart in the right place when it comes to rescue. A person doesn't have to house every animal they come across and still help them. The most important part is to not turn your head the other way, as many do. You can help a lot by telling friends in your area about the site, and seeing if you can grow the awareness in the community you live in. The more people an area has involved in this, the more resources it has to not only find, but also foster, or home abused or neglected animals.
